To summarize, this idea converges with an existing development of an xdg-credentials web library, a collaborative effort with big tech.
Before I continue - note: Tofi is a minimal Wayland Launcher with a CSS-esque spirit to it.
I thought I'd share this for a couple reasons. The first primarily to inspire those to extend its functionality with the way us memesters/creative people use Linux. The second reason being that meming/creativity extends into the world of hacking. I know there was a post a while ago on how the spirit of hacking from the BBS days is dead, with some counterarguments on how PHP (namely in message boards) revitalized its spirit.
I'm here to say that is far from the truth. To extend the points conveyed in the above link, with the text extended, you could run (Neo)Fetch in the prompt-text flag, or any other text program really. You already can, it just doesn't display properly.
I haven't experimented with framebuffers much, but I'd imagine those would work too. So assuming it fills supposed extended dimensions of the prompt-text, you could also have a video playing underneath it. Or a chat client. Or better yet, extending back to the xdg-cred/open point, text+images on sites you're about to enter sensitive details into (ex: banking, purchases, you name it), or confirmation feedback of said details, directly in the launcher.
Now for any of you who clicked on the above link, you may have noticed additional details mentioned in a different repo. Namely, for iOS. Fact of the matter is, while I can't speak for dudes, most of these chicks out here are running iPhones. Shout out to the BBS homies from back in the day with mad game. As the meme goes, at least for MMORPGs, 12 wives, 30 side chicks, 60 kids, yada yada. None of that Andrew Tate third-rate red-pill ideology bullshit, rather, Raw busyman Authenticity. But I digress.
Personally, I'd wanna see this implemented for IG, as I can't jive with the interface one bit. Mayhaps OF too, to hit on some chicks that run their own accounts. Occassionally TikTok too, minus the gobbledygook? Trafotin made a repo for it a few years ago that stopped working.
Although I doubt it would, I haven't verified if Reddit works. Although my account is shadowbanned on there, with appeal denied. Reddit mods/algorithm do not like you ideating too much on there. Too many drawn parallels - TABOO. But that brings me to another point. If this clicks with even just one person, please post a glimpse into it to the unixporn subreddit. And don't be shy to get in touch with Brodie Robertson for his Tech over Tea podcast, or Gavin Freeborn for an interview akin to Nyxt's future, or Developer Voices, or DistroTube / The Linux Cast, or anyone else I'm missing, to highlight your fork/extensions in a separate video.
By some offchance this post gets the whole crowd up in here, I know some of you will think I'm purely waffling and/or should just do this myself. My focus is more around sprinkles of hardware abstracted distributions in exploratory-lacking sectors. That includes, but isn't limited to my generation, Gen Z. While they can be a bit tricky to find, those of them that are getting busy themselves naturally gravitate to Linux and the whole FOSS ethos (usually indirectly - y'all that keep up with Brodie Robertson have seen in his recent vids reacting to what happens when you dive too deep into the ideology bullshit rabbit hole). And they'll be found, provided you're also focusing on what's natural.
Lemme get back to the iPhones topic rq. Clicks keyboard. Shout out to MrMobile. Michael Fisher, even if his vids ain't always logically sound, makes great vids on the spirit of business logistics to technology. Y'all can read more on where I'm going with this in reemko's smtp-http-proxy repo, 'Closed: Not Planned' issue.
Separate comment as I ran out of the character limit. But lastly, as covered in both GitHub posts, I'll post links if sufficient interest is garnered for context, specifically around XDG-cred (and XDG-open hijacking), more readily accessible hardware-level web APIs more around security than browsers standalone offer, basically the whole nine yards.
